"This house stinks!"

YES, those were the oh so sweet words from my Taylor yesterday afternoon after my asking, telling and then demanding that she start helping HopeAnn clean up their room. Oh I’m telling you this motherhood thing is SO FRUSTRATING. I’m off to the bookstore today to find SOMETHING ANYTHING that can get me through this hard time with her. My goodness……she’s only 7!!! WHAT ON EARTH are the teenage years going to hold??? OH MY.

It has been through the eyes of Taylor that I have been able to look very closely at my walk with the Lord. I am under the magnifying glass constantly around her. She can be very sweet and has good manners but this fire inside of her WHOA. After reading the book Taming the Family Zoo…I thought maybe this would be a good thing to blog about for a few posts. I will get started on that later. For now, it’s time for SWEET JESUS.

Today I just want to love on Him a little more than usual. So many times we as Christians get caught up with “I need to talk to God about that”. And yes, we do need to do that, but sometimes I feel like Taylor “THIS STINKS LORD”, and knowing how I felt after she said that to me, I cam imagine how Christ feels at times we we’ve got a whole lotta complaining to do.

There is a passage in Psalms that I just love, it’s so descriptive of who God is. Read with me if you’d like, Psalm 18:7-10 “The earth trembled and quaked and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry. Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it. He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet. He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind.” This is our GOD friends….oh what a mighty warrior HE is. WOW. Can you imagine??? Oh I cannot wait for the day when I will finally get to “see” God for who He truly is. His majesty and wonder all around me.

How on earth could anything ever “stink” knowing that I’ve got this mighty, mighty warrior on my side? How humbling to think of our God that way. He is not just sitting upon his throne awaiting the day where He can place judgment upon our lives….(although that will be part of it) He is REAL, He is alive, He is big, MIGHTY, HUGE…….He makes the phrase “If God is with us, who can be against us?” SO TRUE. Although we may feel defeated, we may feel like we lost….the battle has been won, the price has already been paid. His angels are not these cute little figurines we place around our homes……THEY are BIG, MIGHTY and very real…..why? Because they are in the army of the Lord…..oh what precious thoughts today. But this MIGHTY warrior is as gentle and the whisper of the wind…..and that is what He is to me this morning. Holy, Precious, Righteous, Mighty, Gentle, Everlasting….
