Oh blogsters, I’m about to bust with anticipation of this post today.
I woke up this morning and had “that feeling”…you know that feeling that God is about to speak a WORD to you? Yes, that feeling.
My fingers are typing a thousand miles a minute just to get this out.
I pulled out my Bible and felt the Holy Spirit leading me to the book of Ephesians. I have a great love for the book of Ephesians and it would be almost impossible to open that book of the Bible and NOT get a word from the Lord. [smile]
Here’s where I planted though:
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in you inner being. So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge -that you may be filled to the measure of the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever. Amen. ” -Ephesians 3:14-21
Question 1 -What does this passage say?
I went through and put bold around all the words that are popping out at me today.
Question 2 -What does this passage mean?
Sometimes I think we [the Church] have a really messed up way of thinking about God. We put limitations on God, make him to seem so mysterious.
I’m not thinking God is so mysterious. And his purpose in our lives….that seems very clear in this passage!
Let’s think about this.
God is love. And his love is greater than knowing everything. [we can understand love and I don’t know about you, but I find relief in knowing that I don’t need to know everything]
God is strong and powerful. [we know what strength feels like, and most likely we have had glimpses of power]
God works through his spirit. [this may seem a little mysterious that we can’t see him working but we can feel his presence, we can see his results, we can see his works…that is for sure]
God wants us to work together. [look all around your life today, how many “teams” do you have: family, friends, church, ministries, community. Division was never apart of his plan…we are all apart of the CHURCH with a big “C”.]
God gets all the glory. [If your going to brag, brag about Jesus. That’s all. Every victory belongs to him…every victory.]
Gods purpose is the gospel in every generation. [It isn’t about who is called to preach and teach the gospel. Our lives are to live out the gospel of Jesus. Everyone, everywhere. No exceptions. Don’t tell me that’s not your gift…yes it is.]
This passage is a HUGE pillar for our faith.
Question 3 -What does this passage mean to me?
Here’s what I’m tired of. Satan has gotten a little sneaky with my generation. But I’m ready to expose him today if you are ready to listen. And even if you don’t listen, that’s ok…I just got to get this out.
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard, “Honey, sometimes Gods ways are just not our ways and we just can’t understand what He’s doing.”And I KNOW where that comes from, Isaiah 55:9.
But what about Psalm 128:?
“Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.”
Or
“Wait on the Lord, and keep His way, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land;” Psalm 37:34
Then, on the flip side, I hear message after message about having this GREAT destiny and this great purpose. You have too.
But then, we are all walking around going, “Oh my goodness, I just don’t know what my purpose is on this earth.”
But according to this verse, I do know who God is. I do know His ways. And if His ways are not MY ways, then the problem is…ME. Not God.
God may work in ways I cannot understand but grasping onto Him is what I’m striving for every day!
See, this is where I am about to BUST!
And according to this verse and other verses, my purpose is NOTHING more or less than to represent Jesus every day in every way.
Listen, there is some power in that. That is a great purpose. Not to be taken lightly!
I keep thinking about the lengths that people will go to “know” someone, to be “in this crowd” or “associated with this person” or to be “hooked up” here.
We are hooked up with JESUS!
No one is greater than Him. So why are we all flustered trying to get in with this group or this group so that we can have this great destiny?
Destiny is TODAY. Now. Here in this moment.
We represent HIM. He is God! There is no one better to go before us, go beside us, go after us, go with us…than Jesus!
There is NO label greater than “Follower of Christ”!
Mercy y’all…does anyone get this too?
Ok, I’d better stop because my fingers feel like they are about to fall off from typing this out so fast. [smile]
I love you friends, if we are tapped into God we ARE in a great destiny. We ARE in a great purpose. We know God, His word is very clear about who He is.
Believe that truth and walk in it! Don’t miss today by chasing after tomorrow.

This is so beautiful and so true and I am so tired of what you are tired of and yet I can’t get out of that rut. I am working on it everyday and asking the Lord for help. My husband was baptized last night at church by our pastor and it makes me so happy. I kind of felt like that was holding me/us back from REALLY having a relationship with Jesus. My husband is on board and I feel so energetic. Thank you for your message everyday! Keep up the great work!

This was powerful. I had just blogged on Philippians 3 where Paul wants to lay of God’s purpose for him. i was wondering what that purpose is and you’re right…it’s to know Him and cling to Him. That’s what Paul talked about in that chapter but I didn’t catch it. Glory to the Lord!
