Day 11 A tradition -The Birthday Plates
I’m so excited to blog today about a tradition that has become so fun in our family.
I don’t know when exactly this tradition started, I’m thinking it was when Taylor was about 4 or 5 years old. NO clue where I got this idea from, but…I knew that I wanted to do something that all three of my girls would always remember for their birthday morning.
And so it began…the birthday plates.
The night before the girl’s birthdays, I take a dozen or so paper plates and write and draw all over them. The plates say things like, “We love you”, “Happy Birthday!”, “It’s your special day”.
Then, I place the first one at their bedroom door that leads to a trail of plates to the breakfast table. When they get to the table, their gifts are at their seat.
So, that’s our unique tradition. 🙂 It sounds silly but now every year they ask me, “Mommy, are you going to do the plates?”
What about you? Do you have a unique tradition that you do for birthday’s or holidays? Leave a comment and share, I’d love to hear it!

I found your blog today and it’s beautiful. I love the Birthday Plates. I enjoy your honesty and I’m gonna look for Glynnis’ book.. thank you. (I am #4 🙂
What a cute idea! We don’t really have any birthday traditions, but I may have to try this one. 🙂
Many blessings!
I know this tradition is a big deal in your family. Either Taylor or Hope did want to spend the night at a friends house and not wake up to this tradition.
