It’s been a big day.
I knew it was coming but I was not ready for the all.the.feelings. I saw the UPS man coming down the long gravel road that leads to the Fixer Upper Farm and I started to get all middle-school-girlish. My heart was racing, I was shaking and the tears … yep, they started coming.
I tried to keep it cool as I opened the door. But I couldn’t. We take pictures of the doctors who deliver our babies so OF COURSE I had to take the picture of the man who would be delivering my book baby!
The UPS man got off his truck and started to walk up the stairs when I said, “I’m so sorry. But can I take your picture?”
He laughed and said, “Um, why?”
And as I tried to contain my laughter I said, “BECAUSE, you are holding my FIRST BOOK.”
Confused, he looked at the package and he said, “What? Your first book?”
I said, “YES! The first book I WROTE!”
He laughed and said, “Oh my goodness, that’s great! Congratulations. Sure you can take my picture.”
Such a good sport. It’s blurry because … I WAS SO EXCITED.
I shut the door and began to open the package. And there it was. Shiny. Hot-off-the-press new, filled with the words I had spent what seemed like a lifetime crafting.
This was not a FUN to be home alone so I FaceTimed Kris and just cried. And then I FaceTimed Melissa Taylor. Because, hello … this is her adoptive baby. She’s been there every.step.
And then, I made my little book launch team the rawest, real video that ever existed and posted it in our Facebook group. Crying. Just all the crying. That’s all the video was.
And then, it was just me and Herman, the slightly famous pug.
This IS his excited face y’all.
All those reading chapters aloud days, he was there. He’s heard every bit of this book. He’s excited too. [wink]
I can’t believe it! It’s here. It’s real. And it’s coming your way NEXT.

There’s so much more I want to say but today I just want to leave you with this promise I’ve been holding onto for years now. It’s why I couldn’t contain my tears of joy today.
