I’m REALLY excited about today’s post.
As 5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit makes it way out into the hands of readers, I’m starting to hear back from women across the world who are being challenged by different parts of this message. Reading their stories has really opened my eyes to see how different God speaks to us but yet, it’s still in a very similar way.
I thought it would be fun, here on the blog, to have a few of #5HabitsBook readers share their stories.
If you have a story of the way God has challenged you through this message, and you’d like to share it here on the blog, you can email it to: nicki@nickikoziarz.com!
Today, I want you to my friend, Karen Foster and hear her #5HabitsBook story …
I wanted to quit the hope of finding love. I was a single mom of two, running my own business, and working for an anti-human trafficking ministry.
What kind of man would exist that would want to jump into this craziness?
After being single for 8 years and experiencing horrible attempts at dating, I met the man who would become my husband. We married only 2 ½ months after meeting. Did I mention I’m crazy?
About 6 weeks after making the biggest commitment of my life, we had our first major, all out ugly fight. As I cried out to God while weeping on the bathroom floor, I asked Him why He told me to marry this man so quickly. I have no doubt God gave me peace to marry him, I simply didn’t understand the timing. The answer I received was, “I told you to because you are a runner. If you weren’t married, you would have run (or should I say quit?) from him.” It was the truth. At that moment, all I wanted to do was run away.
The habit that most challenged me from the book was:
Habit 4: She gives others what she needs.
I was hit hard when Nicki asked herself (and me) the question of, “Right now, what is it like to be on the other side of me?” I’m using this habit to help me when I want to run in the midst of conflict with my husband.
We recently celebrated our one year anniversary!
I am glad to say I no longer feel like running when things aren’t going well. I realize marriage is definitely an assignment of refinement and no matter how I feel, this is a commitment I cannot quit. I’ve watched how God has moved in each of our lives and as a family. I am more aware of giving my husband the love, grace, and forgiveness I need myself and look forward to all God has ahead for us!
Wow! Thank you so much Karen for sharing your story with us today. I’m so excited to see what else God has planned for your future, the best days are still ahead!

I’m gonna keep pressing onward to my new way of healthy eating no matter what. I do get discouraged, but I am no quitter.
God has done amazing things from the healthy eating and exercise plan my PCP put me on about 2 years ago. I lost 62 lb the first year. This last year has been very challenging because while I am still eating healthy and exercising, I am not dropping the remaining 22 lb very quickly. I’m not about to give up the healthy eating, swimming, or water aerobics because I feel amazing when I do them. Recently I took on a weights program with a personal trainer and every time it comes around to the days where I work on core, I want to quit and have to struggle to do it, but I can tell it is making a difference in my strength.
The second thing is that I have struggled for years with trying to declutter and have given up a million times probably. I often feel overwhelmed and have to break it up into small tasks that I can complete. But very often I feel like giving up and not trying. That one is my biggest struggle.
Have been readin g 5 habits Wow what a book! I would think you are living at my house Nikki.
Just want to say thank you!
