It’s March! You know what that means here in the United States? Basketball season. I know. Maybe you’re like me rolling your eyes just a little at how much time your husband or maybe even you 🙂 will be spending in front of the TV this month.
March Madness FOR SURE can make me feel a little crazy with the TV.
So I thought this would be a great time for us to start something new on the podcast. It’s a BIG new too. We’re going from a monthly podcast to a weekly podcast! Cue the confetti!
And to go along with March Madness we’re doing a series called STOP THE MADNESS.
This series is all about equipping you with Truth and hope as we navigate the less than perfect places in life. I’ve invited a few AMAZING friends to join me for this series and I’ve got some Bible teaching in each episode just for you.
So, on our first episode we’re diving right into the biggest struggle I heard you guys say you have, TIME.
Alright! Cozy up, jump on the treadmill or do whatever you do and listen in to our first episode in this series.

I sit in front of a computer all day at work, so when I finally upgraded to a smart phone, I deliberately got the SMALLEST data plan possible. I have my data turned off on my phone, because I have a tablet and a laptop at home, so I don’t need to be constantly checking my phone. I use it for phone calls and texts, and since my data is turned off, I only get text notifications. It was the smartest decision I could have made. I keep the data plan, because there are always times when I am out an about, and something happens, and I need to get on the internet. That’s the only time I turn on my data. And as soon as I’m done, I my data off again. Since I do use my phone as my alarm clock, I do keep it beside my bed. However, just before I turn off the light, I turn off the ringer. I am trusting God that if there is a phone call that will come in the middle of the night, that will be the night my phone either miraculously rings, or that will be the night I forget to turn off the ringer. What I DO need to work on, is spending less time on my tablet checking email, getting on facebook, etc. I’m a lot better than I have been, but I still have work to do. 🙂
If you have an Apple phone, you can set it on “do not disturb”. The only calls that will come through are from your favorites list or if someone calls twice within 3 minutes. I use this, rather than turning the ringer off, because my hubby’s work usually takes him away from home for the week, so I want to be available in case of an emergency. No texts or other notifications come through, unless you specifically set it that way.
This was great! Thanks so much for taking your time to help us use our time wisely. There’s definitely things I need to change and implement. But will go to God in prayer, first. That was the best advise ????. So sorry to hear about your pet pig. ????
So glad this encouraged you!
Thank you Nicki!!!! I needed this.
So glad it was helpful!
You are such a great speaker Nicki!!!! You always inspire me. So sorry about your pig. Hope the other pigs stay well.
You are so kind, Melissa! Thank you for your sweet words.
Sorry to hear about your pig. ???? Thank you for sharing your messages. I need to work on putting my phone down through the day. Hopefully I can start checking it a lot less than I do. With God’s help I can. Thank you again.
Yes! He will help you, just keep giving it to Him. 🙂
Gods timing is perfect. Your
Podcast was done with me in mind :). I am an empty nester so wasting time on my smartphone seems the okay thing to do but there are so many other more productive things I should be doing with my time. Thank you for being so real and so open with us.
Thank you, Kathy!
