The past few weeks my mom heart has ached over the gun shootings in our schools across America. My own daughter, Taylor, attends UNC Charlotte and I have a friend whose kids attended a school in the community where the Colorado shooting happened.
The truth is, I recorded this week’s episode weeks ago, before any of these tragedies unfolded. And I can’t help but think of how absolutely perfect God’s timing is.
I met today’s guest while we were both speaking at the Louisiana State Baptist Women’s Conference. God did something so special through that event and one of the best things is, I came away with a new friend. Someone I really believe in.
Her name is TroQuell Jenkins, and her story of surviving a shooting is being heard across the world right now. But she’s here with us, right here on the podcast.
She took her pain and turned it into her purpose and it is truly one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever heard.

Hello Nicki! This was such an inspirational for me. I would love for my daughter Christina to meet TroQuell Jenkins. You could be so inspiring for her and me as a Mom because her life changed in 2005. She needs a friend like you to believe she is worthy of a better life.
